Galaxy will have AI

Samsung is getting ready to introduce Galaxy AI features to more of its smartphones and tablets with an upcoming One UI update.

Last month, when Samsung released the new Samsung Galaxy S24, it also kicked off its accelerator program in artificial intelligence. The Galaxy AI features on Samsung’s top-tier smartphones are just the beginning of a bigger plan. This initiative will include other market segments too, like the Galaxy Book 4 notebooks with Intel Core Ultra processors. Additionally, with the next One UI update, Samsung will bring Galaxy AI functions to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

AI is the new reference of the Galaxy range

Samsung’s commitment to artificial intelligence is evident. The launch of the new Galaxy S24 sets the stage for a lineup that will grow over time, adding new features that make use of AI.

There are several new services powered by artificial intelligence. For example, Live Translation and Interpreter are now available with the Galaxy Buds. Additionally, there’s the Note Assistant function in Samsung Notes, which uses generative AI to create summaries of meetings and various types of encounters, keeping all your notes organized.

AI arrives with One UI 6.1

Samsung is getting ready to roll out the new One UI 6.1 update, which will bring AI functions to more Galaxy devices. Some of the Samsung models that will benefit from the Galaxy AI features include:

  • Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra
  • Galaxy S23 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold5
  • Galaxy Z Flip5
  • Galaxy Tab S9

The update is set to be available by the end of March. Users will have the option to use a “hybrid” approach with AI tools, switching between on-device artificial intelligence and cloud-based AI depending on their needs.

The models listed earlier don’t have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which is better for AI processing. This means they might need to rely more on cloud processing.

In the future, Samsung plans to bring Galaxy AI features to more devices. It’s likely that upcoming high-end models in 2024, like the new Galaxy Z series, will come with all the AI-based features introduced with the Galaxy S24.

For now, AI features will likely stay exclusive to high-end products. It’s still too early to expect AI functions on mid-range models, such as the Galaxy A series smartphones.
